Gazprom Neft adds rail project to Omsk refinery upgrade
Gazprom Neft has begun construction of an automated 1.2-million-tonnes-per-year railcar oil-products loading facility (AUTN-1) at its Omsk Refinery. The company’s total investment in this project is RUB2.8 billion.
Technology to ensure airtight and leak-proof filling will be implemented at the facility, avoiding any release of fumes into the atmosphere. The project forms part of the comprehensive modernisation of the Omsk Refinery, an initiative being undertaken by Gazprom Neft since 2008, directed at improving production efficiency and implementing best practice in industrial safety, as well as the subsequent reduction in environmental impacts.
The automated timed-filling facility will be equipped with a modern activated carbon filter system, ensuring the absorption of up to 99 percent of vapour from petroleum-products and returning this to the secondary refining cycle. Thanks to full process automation at the AUTN-1 plant, the accuracy of filling operations and commercial accounting for all shipments — including gasoline, diesel and marine fuels, aromatic hydrocarbons (paraxylene, o-xylene, benzene, and toluene concentrate) and aviation fuels — will be improved.
The new installation will replace the open-gallery overhead rail facilities at the Omsk Refinery’s Commodity Supply Base No. 1.
