Amec Foster Wheeler expands UAE office to serve new Middle East projects
Amec Foster Wheeler is expanding its UAE operations in response to recent key contract awards and growing opportunities in the Middle East, the contractor announced on Wednesday.
The Middle East market remains strong in a time of oil price uncertainty, the company says, and Amec Foster Wheeler has established Abu Dhabi as its Middle East hub of expertise in the region.
The company now has over 700 employees in the UAE, supporting 2,000 people across the Middle East region.
Amec Foster Wheeler says it is currently busy executing a number of contracts from Abu Dhabi, the largest of which is a
project management consultancy (PMC) contract for the UZ750
project in the Upper Zakum field.
In addition to providing PMC services, Amec Foster Wheeler says it is growing its detailed design capability in Abu Dhabi to service local customers. The company also offers an integrated service offering through its consultancy companies based in Abu Dhabi, from the very commencement of the
project through to commissioning and beyond.
As well as providing oil and gas services, Amec Foster Wheeler is also looking to expand its non-hydro
carbonbusiness across the Middle East by leveraging global capability in the clean energy,
environmental and infrastructure and mining markets.
Following completion of the Abu Dhabi office
expansion in Khalifa Park, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Tuesday.
“The Middle East holds significant opportunities for Amec Foster Wheeler, and this
expansion is in line with our long-term growth plans," said Garry Dryburgh, Amec Foster Wheeler’s president for Middle East and Africa. "We look forward to our continued growth in the UAE.
“This
expansion enables a more integrated service offering to our customers in the UAE and across the Middle East and marks a significant chapter in our operations here," he added.
