Amec Foster Wheeler selected for LNG terminal work in Tamil Nadu, India

Indian Oil LNG (IOLPL) has awarded a contract to Amec Foster Wheeler for the liquefied natural gas (LNG) import, storage and regasification terminal in Ennore within the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

In 2012, the company provided front end engineering and design services for the terminal.

The first phase of work on this terminal is set to have a natural gas production capacity of 20 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCMD) with two LNG tanks having a capacity of 180,000m³ each.

Amec Foster Wheeler Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa and Southern Europe business group president Roberto Penno said:

"Following our successful completion of the FEED contract, delivering this next phase of this project reinforces our position as a leading provider of LNG services to the Indian domestic market."

Under the 42-month contract, Amec's responsibilities include the supervision of works related to various engineering procurement and construction contracts for the LNG regasification and marine import facilities.

The company will also provide services for the LNG storage tanks and undertake activities related to project management consultancy for the complete project.

The activities range from engineering development and construction phases through to pre-commissioning and commissioning, as well as start-up of the terminal.

Amec plans to deliver the contract at the end of 2018.

IOLPL is a joint venture of Indian Oil and India's commercial enterprise.
