Angola’s Cabinda Refinery award to United Shine EPC consortium

As part of the implementation of the strategy to develop Sonangol's crude oil refining activity, which defines three geographic axes - Cabinda, Luanda and Lobito - an international tender was launched in 2017, in two phrases.

Of the sixty-eight entities that initially expressed an interest in participating in the construction of a refinery in Cabinda and another in Lobito, twenty-eight were cleared for Phase One, seven of which were selected in Phase Two to compete for the construction project of the refinery in Cabinda, which should have a processing capacity of no more than sixty thousand bpd.

In this last phase, the entities selected were subject to an assessment of their legal and legal status, technical and financial skills, through a Due Diligence process carried out by an independent entity with a recognized international reputation.

The Board of Directors of Sonangol E.P. announced that the evaluation, which began in December 2017, of the applications submitted by various companies and consortia for the construction of a refinery in the province of Cabinda has come to an end.

As a result of this evaluation, the selection and subsequent adjudication of the construction of the Cabinda refinery to the United Shine consortium, in partnership with Sonangol, was approved, with the former having 90% and Sonangol Refinación - Sonaref SA 10% social capital.
