ExxonMobil responds to the coronavirus pandemic with an initiative to make personal protection equipment for health care workers
ExxonMobil and the Global Center for Medical Innovation (GCMI) recently announced a joint project to quickly redesign and manufacture reusable personal protection equipment (PPE) such as face shields and masks for the health care community. These PPE devices have been in extremely short supply as the pandemic continues.
ExxonMobil is using its experience and resources in polymer-based technologies alongside GCMI’s standards to expedite this equipment that can be safely used and sterilized for multiple applications. This new PPE includes a newly designed mask and a replaceable cartridge system that, once approved, production of 40,000 masks and cartridges per hour is anticipated through third party producers.
