FERC approves Fourchon LNG pre-filing request

The United States Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved Fourchon LNG’s request to start the pre-filing procedure for the proposed Port Fourchon project in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana.

According to the filing, Fourchon plans to develop the terminal in two phases with the goal of the first phase is to have two million metric tons of LNG annual production capacity.

The second phase is expected to expand the capacity to a total of five million tons per year.

The planned terminal would include up to ten liquefaction trains, pre-treatment facilities and two LNG storage tanks with 88,000 cubic meters storage capacity each.

The facility would also include a marine loading berth capable of receiving LNG carriers up to 180,000 cubic meters in capacity, on-site electric generation facilities and a feeder pipeline.

The company, a part of Energy World Group, plans on exporting the produced liquefied natural gas to both Free Trade Agreement and Non-Free Trade Agreement countries and expects to file its application with the Department of Energy very shortly.

Fourchon expects to file a formal application with FERC application no later than February 2018.
