Lummus and Clariant to Provide CATOFIN technology to India’s first PDH Plant
Lummus announced last week that it and its catalyst partner, Clariant Catalysts, have won a major contract award for GAIL of India’s upcoming propane dehydrogenation (PDH) plant in Usar, Maharashtra. This plant is expected to be the first PDH plant in India.
GAIL will utilize Lummus Technology’s CATOFIN process technology and Clariant’s specialized catalysts for this project, which is for a 500 KTPA PDH facility to be integrated with a downstream polypropylene (PP) unit. Polypropylene production is expected to begin operations by 2024. Costs for this PDH/PP project are estimated to be $1.2 billion USD. The value of the licensing contract for Lummus and Clariant was not announced at this time.
