Lummus Chosen to Provide Novolen Technology for Egyptian Project

Lummus Technology of the United States announced that it has been selected to be the polypropylene licensor for work at the upcoming Anchor Benitoite petrochemical project in Suez, Egypt. This licensing also includes basic design engineering, training, services, and catalyst supply.

Anchorage Investments Founder and Managing Director Dr. Ahmed M. A. Moharram stated in May that "The Anchor Benitoite project will include a 590 KTA Novolen PP unit as the main derivative of the propylene produced within the complex." This statement fits the plan for this complex, since the company intends for the nearly $2 billion dollar Anchor Benitoite construct several different petrochemical products as this facility is anticipated to embolden Egypt’s standing as a petrochemical hub in the region.

This award to Lummus Technology follows last April’s announcement of Honeywell UOP providing its C3 Oleflex technology for a propane dehydrogenation plant at the Anchor Benitoite complex that is being designed to produce 750,000 tpy of propylene.
