Mozambique LNG project stays on track for 2024.

Total’s Mozambique LNG project is now expected to progress and be on schedule after the French company has found new security in place from the local government.  This 12.88 MMtpy project is back on schedule for a startup in 2024.

Total’s Chief Executive Officer, Patrick Pouyanne, announced in mid-February that the Mozambique LNG project is indeed back on schedule after having been delayed repeatedly recently by threats from Islamic terrorists.  Geopolitical fears in this region have been a persistent threat for projects in the area, including the ExxonMobil-led Rovuma LNG project also in Mozambique.

With the Mozambique government now supplying security in the zone for this LNG project, Mr. Pouyanne stressed that the project will run as planned towards a 2024 startup.  Mozambique LNG is led by Total alongside Mitsui, Oil India, ONGC Videsh Limited, Bharat Petroleum, PTT Exploration, as well as Mozambique’s national oil and gas company, ENH.
