Nayara Energy to invest $850 million to build petrochemical plant in Gujarat
Nayara Energy plans to set up a 450,000 tonnes a year polypropylene plant at the Vadinar Refinery in Gujurat. (Note 2017 Essar Oil was acquired by Rosneft and an investment consortium led by Trafigura & UCP Investment Group and renamed Nayara Energy).
Nyara has signed two memorandums of understanding with the Government of Gujarat, India. The first MoU is investing $850 million towards phase 1 of the expansion plan, which will see the establishment of new refinery and petrochemical units. This investment will contribute significantly towards the development of Devbhumi Dwarka district as a petrochemical hub in India. The second MoU is to initiate smart agriculture and water conservation programme in 11,000 hectares in Devbhumi Dwarka
The company has licensed all gas-phase UNIPOL Polypropylene process technology from W.R. Grace & Co using their non-phthalate CONSISTA catalysts, to produce a broad range of phthalate-free homopolymer products for the Indian market
