Nigerian Dangote Fertilizer Project Makes Progress
The Dangote Group is completing the largest Fertilizer Plant in Africa, which shall rank among the second largest Fertilizer plants at one location in the world. The plant is part of the multi billion-dollar Dangote Refinery and Petrochemical complex situated in the Ibeju-Lekki axis of Lagos State,
In May 2019, production activities will commence in an aspect of the facility located as the train one of the fertiliser plant is expected to come on stream. As that historical day approaches, the project is already adding value to the lives of Nigerians through skills acquisition, jobs and wealth creations
Dangote said the ongoing investment in refining, petrochemicals, fertiliser and gas was driven by the desire to bring innovation and efficiency into all aspects of Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
Ngeria will be able to save $0.5bn from import substitution and provide $0.4bn from exports of products from the fertiliser plant. Thus, the supply of fertiliser from the plant, which is set for inauguration before the second quarter of 2019, will be enough for the Nigerian market and neighbouring countries,” said Dangote's Group Executive Director, Government and Strategic Relations, DIL, Mr Ahmed Mansur.
