Petrobras completes USD 5 billion Paulinia Refinery renovation
The start-up of the plant's waste gas treatment unit has signalled the completion of Petrobas’ USD 5bn Paulinia Refinery renovation and expansion.
Petrobras initiated the plant upgrade to increase production of diesel and gasoline, and to cut emissions by improving sulphur recovery efficiency.
The Paulinia, or Replan, Refinery is the largest oil refinery in Brazil in terms of production; producing up to 415 thousand barrels/day.
Paulinia production accounts for 20 per cent of all the oil refining in Brazil and processes approximately 80 per cent of crude output from the lucrative offshore Campos Basin.
Its main products include diesel, gasoline, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), oil fuel, aviation kerosene (jet fuel), asphalt and naphtha, among others.
