PTTGCA reiterates its commitment to its $10 billion dollar ethane cracker complex in Ohio with a new timeline.
PTT Global Chemical (PTTGC) of Thailand’s subsidiary PTTGCA recently announced a new timeline for a planned ethane cracker plant to be built in Belmont County, Ohio. This plant was originally expected to reach a final investment decision in mid-2020 but is now anticipated by the end of 2020 or in the first quarter of 2021. This decision had been delayed initially due to the COVID-19 pandemic conditions. PTTGCA is working alongside Daelim Chemical USA in this venture, with property already procured with site preparation completed.
This multibillion-dollar ethane cracker is designed to produce 1.5 million tons per year of ethylene from ethane sourced from Marcellus and Utica shale deposits. This project is expected to have a completion date in the 2027-2028 timeframe and would likely service the U.S. market.
