Qatar Petroleum Awards EPC Contract to Tecnicas Reunidas
Qatar Petroleum recently announced it had awarded a significant contract to Tecnicas Reunidas of Spain for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of the developing North Field East (NFE) LNG project in Qatar. No contract value has been announced at this time.
Tecnicas Reunidas will be the EPC contractor for the expansion of the North Field’s existing condensate, propane, and butane storage and loading facilities, and for expansion in other nearby facilities for Mono-Ethylene Glycol in the Ras Laffan industrial City and for additional facilities already serving the NFE project. In addition to the NFE, Qatar is also plotting the North Field South (NFS) project, which will added two additional LNG trains.
Four new LNG trains will be implemented as part of the NFE project, which is due by the end of 2025. Upon completion, the NFE project is expected to increase Qatar’s LNG production from 77 MMtpy to 110 MMtpy. The concurrent NFS LNG project will the expected 110 MMtpy to 126 MMtpy in 2027.
