Russian Eurochem NW successfully starts up Europe's largest single-train ammonia plant
JSC EuroChem Northwest Phosphorit sucessfully started up their 1 million ton/year ammonia plant in Kingisepp, Russia. The ammonia plant is Europe’s largest single-train production site and relies on KBR's highly efficient Purifier™ ammonia technology.
KBR was the technology licensor and provided basic engineering design for the $1 billion project. KBR's Purifier technology was selected for its low energy usage, flexibility and lower capital costs. Maire Tecnimont SPA subsidiaries Tecnimont SPA and Tecnimont Russia OOO provided EPC to the brownfield site. The project features a closed-water recycling system to prevent effluent discharges into the nearby Luga River that flows into the Baltic Sea in the Gulf of Finland.
KBR also provided various state-of-the art digital solutions suitable for a best-in-class modern world-scale ammonia plant. These include KBR's remote operations monitoring and expert advisory service Ammonia InSite®, a virtual 3D graphics-embedded Operator Training Simulator including e-learning system as well as a Reliability Based Maintenance system.
