Upcoming Driftwood LNG export terminal makes progress
Tellurian Investment’s Driftwood LNG export project in Louisiana recently received support from Petronet LNG, who intends to sign a deal to invest $2.5 billion in the project. Once the deal is signed, Petronet LNG will receive 5 million tons annually from the Driftwood LNG project after it commences in 2023. The Driftwood LNG project will be a 27.6 million tons per year liquefaction export facility that will be constructed near Lake Charles, Louisiana.
This deal with Petronet LNG is intended to amplify the trading environment between India and the U.S. President Trump is expected to visit New Delhi later this month with the hopes of increasing energy exports to net importer India. This deal announcement comes after a non-binding deal signed in September of last year between the two parties, when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the U.S. for a series of meetings.
